Boys today we are going to learn about Apostrophe which is a PUNCTUATION mark.
1) An apostrophe is used with an 's' at the end of the noun. It shows that something or someone belongs to that noun.
E.g. a) the girl's doll b) the boy's bike.
2) Apostrophe are used for 2 main reasons.
a) In an contraction for the missing letters.
b) In possessive nouns to show who or what owns somethings.
3) Add 's to a singular noun to make it a possessive noun.
E.g. I like Kate's shoes.😊😊
A CONTRACTION is a shortened form of 2 or more words usually using an apostrophe for the missing letters. for e.g. 1) is + not - isn't 2) he + will - he'll
To 'contract' means to make smaller and that is what we do when we form contraction. We take two longer words and contract them into one shorter words.
Kindly do all the above work neatly in your English Language notebook.
Do page 21 and 22 in Sultanchand grammer book itself.
